From Apprentice to Project Manager – The Success Story of Michal Skácel

Olomouc - Every career begins with a first step. For Michal Skácel, that step was joining weba as an apprentice in machining technology. From the very beginning, he had a clear goal: to grow, learn, and gain valuable experience. Today, more than ten years later, he is a project manager – with career stops in the USA, numerous challenges, and exciting experiences along the way. An inspiring success story!

International Experience as a Career Booster

Crossing the Atlantic – Two Years in the USA

In 2018, Michal faced a major challenge: relocating to weba’s branch in Michigan, USA. He spent two intense years there, playing a key role in establishing the location. This period was filled with learning and hands-on experience. He communicated with suppliers, negotiated with customers, supported employees, and trained new colleagues. It was during this time that he truly realized how essential effective communication and teamwork are.

But home is home – so in 2022, he returned to Olomouc, where he worked as a machining technologist. Here, he gained valuable experience with milling tools, collaborated closely with suppliers, and supported the production planning team. All of these experiences prepared him perfectly for his next career step.

Project Management – The Perfect Challenge

Six months ago, Michal joined the project management team – and immediately knew it was the right decision. Why? Because no two days are the same. Whether it's technical challenges, direct customer communication, or managing complex projects, the variety and dynamic nature of his work inspire him every day.

One of the highlights of his job is traveling. Personal meetings with customers and direct insights into how weba products are used in practice are not only exciting but also extremely valuable. Only by being on-site can he respond optimally to individual customer needs and develop innovative solutions firsthand.

But what truly makes his job unique? The team. A strong sense of camaraderie, mutual trust, and a motivating work environment are the key factors for Michal’s success.

Work and Travel – Two Passions Combined

Being on the road frequently has not only fueled his professional ambitions but has also sparked his personal passion for travel. His curiosity about new cultures has already taken him to Japan, Sri Lanka, and Thailand. In the USA, he explored not only major cities like New York but also remote destinations – from the beaches of Hawaii to the wilderness of Alaska, where he had the unforgettable experience of witnessing the Northern Lights.

This sense of adventure is also reflected in his personal motto: "If you want to move forward, you must embrace new challenges, be open to change, and continuously learn." His international experiences have taught him that flexibility and openness are crucial not just in business but also in life.

As much as he loves his job, Michal understands the importance of balancing work and personal life. That’s why he takes every opportunity to travel – whether for extended adventures or spontaneous weekend getaways. These breaks recharge his energy and provide fresh inspiration.

And after a long day? He enjoys good food – whether it's traditional Czech dishes or international cuisine. For him, culinary experiences offer another gateway to different cultures and a perfect way to unwind.
