Up to 35% time saving is achieved, when cutting components using the automated laser with two standard industrial robots. In the case of double-drop components, such as a B column, the robot laser solution achieves twice the cycle time in a dual setup, compared to a standard 5-axis laser system. A line can generally be equipped with several robots and therefore several cutting heads, depending on the desired cycle time. The installation surface required for the machine base is smaller compared to conventional laser cutting machines.
At weba, two simultaneously cutting laser robots are currently in use. In collaboration with Shape Process Automation, the technology is undergoing further development based on requirements and operational insights at weba. The objective is to integrate several production processes and additional functions into one laser cell, for example, welding, measuring, etc.
